Crafty Updates

So I have been having lots of crafty things going on lately, so I better get on with sharing them with you all.

Remember I mentioned here about starting an ATC swap group on the UK Handmade forum. Well the March ATCs themed: Trees & Plants have started to be delivered to the participants and mine arrived last Saturday.

It was done by Craft Matters and she blogged about it here. You can find more of her creations here on Misi and here on Etsy.

Its the cutest thing and I would love to turn it into a brooch but I won't and isn't her business cards the sweetest.

I sent out mine on Tuesday and my reciepent Victoria of Giddystuff has recieved it, she has blogged about it here. Giddystuff creations can be found on Folksy and Misi.

Here is mine that I sent out I have explained how I made it here.

I have also recently started another group on UK handmade forum. Its a Round Robin group and I got the idea from following Lorelei a fellow blogger's RR journey when she hosted a similar project. After asking her if I could use her guidelines as a template to setting up my RR swaps, I decided to take the plunge and set the group up.

I have since posted my first RR swap themed - Necklaces, to the group and I'll be sure to keep you all informed of its progress.

Other updates have been the evolution to my creating mini book pendants. I became interested in these when I wanted to make one for my inspired House of Riverton piece: The Game blogged about here.

I later came across this French based artisan Esther and was simply blown away by her beautifully handcrafted mini books . My work may never be as exquiste as hers but I am proud of my first leather book all the same, which I completed today.

It measures approx 3cm x 3cm or 1.2" x 1.2".

I want my mini books to not only be part of the jewellery but also functional and so including my House of Riverton piece: The Game this one is also filled with 16 blank pages that can be written on or have pictures mounted upon them, etc.

I haven't named this one as yet and I am not sure what I will do with it. I will probably keep it for myself as a memento of my achievement. Maybe I'll use it as a focal piece in my first round robin necklace swap that I mentioned above.

Anyway that's it for now, hope everyone is enjoying springtime and I will catch you all laters. I am very behind on reading all the blogs I follow but hope to rectify that over the coming weekend.

Keep well, toodles,

  7. Hey GiddyStuff, thanks for popping by and thanks for your comments re my mini book.

How strange you were also thinking of a little sketch book, as an idea that has been playing round my head is to make one as a brooch but easily detachable for impromtu use but I still have to iron out the idea fully (who knows it migt remain just an idea).

Its lovely to read your blog and I think its cool how the ATC's have inspired you to create different things, I just love those earrings.
